I tried a new recipe for breakfast this morning.

Tuesday October 17, 2017
I saw a video on Facebook & thought this might be interesting to try out. I am not a big fan of trying new things with all my allergies, but since all the ingredients are things I have eaten, I thought it was worth a try. I really liked it. It's messy to eat, I would recommend LOTS of napkins; but it's freaking delicious!!

My original lite BLT made with 2 Tbsp. lite Mayo, 1 slice of bacon (halved) & white bread with the crusts removed (did you know that removing the crusts cuts the calories & fat for the bread in HALF!) is 199 calories. This makes 2 little BLTs & is approx. 90 - 100 calories! Wow! 😍

Here's the Facebook address for the video from Delish:
Oh & here's my video:

As for the "pause" I don't know if my camera can do that, what I actually do is turn the camera off, re-start it when I am ready & use a cool free video editing program, called All Free Video Joiner, which is available here:  http://www.allfreevideoconverter.com/index.html They have a lot of wonderful free audio, video & other software.

Recipes

Today's post is going to be about food. Recipes & other goodies. I have been finding some interesting stuff on Facebook & wanted to share them here as well.

This recipe is for easy-to-make, healthy cookies!  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Qe25ikI_MWU

This creamy cucumber salad is only 90 calories!  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Qe25ikI_MWU
I prefer mine with a light Italian vinaigrette, cuts the calories almost in half.

And here are some useful tips on using up your leftovers.  http://thekrazycouponlady.com/tips/at-home/the-best-15-ways-to-use-kitchen-leftovers/?utm_source=livingonadime.com&utm_medium=referral&utm_campaign=pubexchange_facebook

Saving money on clothes.

Thursday, August 24, 2017

This blog is going to be about saving money. I see all kinds of advertisements for what seems to be a good deal, until I look a little deeper. Sometimes I find good deals totally by accident. Last spring when I was still living in Abbotsford, I saw an ad for Garage, a very cool shop in 7 Oaks mall. They had tank tops on for $5 each, which is a pretty sweet deal, or so I thought. Later the same day I was buying some Mott's vegetable cocktail at the Dollar Tree & as I walked in the door I noticed they had racks of shirts. I liked this one so much, I got 2 of them!

This spring I checked them out while I was in town (I live in Mission now) & bought several tank tops, like this one:

They had a lot of different types of shirts & I even saw some girl's bathing suits at the one on Marshall road. They also often have socks, underwear & even bras.
And remember, this the Dollar Tree, each of these is only $1.25 (pt) for a post-tax total of $1.40!

I got 3 pairs of beautiful jeans at Sears before they went out of business, for under $10 a pair. And I got a beautiful faux-fur winter coat at Sears in Abbotsford  in December 2015 for only $35 (originally tagged @ $199!) Check it out!!
I got the black shirt @ Liquidation World in 2008. Black tends to make me heat sick, so I can only wear it in the winter.

An assortment of articles on different things. Mostly stuff I found on Facebook.

Monday, April 17, 2017

Hope those of you that celebrate Easter had a wonderful long weekend. I haven't posted anything since before Christmas, so I figured it was time to get off my ass & blog already.

It occurred to me that I should be sharing more of the stuff here, that I generally share on Facebook. Here's an interesting article on the rash of "religious liberty" & "bathroom" bills cropping up across the US. http://www.huffingtonpost.com/zoe-dolan/the-civil-rights-struggle_b_8490982.html?ncid=engmodushpmg00000003
A couple of interesting articles on women's rights as they are reflected in public nudity laws:

I just learned something cool, did you know that we can make roads with recycled plastic?

On a somewhat sad note, the author of one of my all-time favourite books "Zen &the art of motorcycle maintenance" has passed away. http://www.dailykos.com/story/2017/4/26/1656487/-Robert-Pirsig-Who-Took-Us-On-Inner-Journeys-In-Zen-And-The-Art-Of-Motorcycle-Maintenance-Has-Died

Buddhism

Wednesday, June 15, 2016

I have been an atheist since I was about 8 or 9 & I have been a Buddhist since I was 16.
I found some very interesting articles on Buddhism on Huffington Post. And I also found some interesting articles on re-incarnation online. I shared them of Facebook a few days ago, but they have been "improving" (insert sarcasm font here LOL) Facebook, so that it is more difficult to find anything older than a few days on my (& other's feeds). So I decided that I should post them here, so that I can always find them again.

Here's an article by George Takei, who was raised Buddhist: http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2015/01/24/george-takei-buddhism_n_6535306.html

I really have to try & find this book. The artwork is absolutely breathtakingly beautiful!!

An interesting article on the 1st Buddhist monastery in the US for ordaining both monks & nuns.  http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2015/02/01/thubten-chodron-women-buddhism_n_6557484.html

For 25 years, a Buddhist monk in north-east Thailand, Phrakru Pitak Nanthakthun has conducted ceremonies to “ordain” trees, which he said he hopes will bring an end to deforestation and the decline of the environment. http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2015/03/04/buddhist-monks-ordain-trees_n_6784568.html

Matthieu Ricard, biochemist & Buddhist monk, believes he has unlocked the seceret to happiness & it may help save the environment:

Ani Choying and Tibbetts recorded an album of meditative Buddhist chant and singing titled Cho, with Tibbetts providing a diaphanous soundscape. The album took its title from the tantric Buddhist practice of intense meditation and visualisation.

After decades of rule by an oppressive communist government, which destroyed hundreds of Buddhist monasteries, burned ancient texts and executed thousands of lamas, Mongolia transitioned to a constitutional government with a parliament and an elected president in 1990. With this change came the opportunity to revive the country’s Buddhist community, to which end the Grand Maitreya Project aims to serve. http://www.huffingtonpost.com/entry/grand-maitreya-project-mongolia_us_57043833e4b0537661880b70?utm_hp_ref=buddhism&slideshow=true

What if the chants emanating from a Buddhist temple were actually rap lyrics and the intricate mandalas were actually graffiti?
That’s how Gomyo, an American Buddhist priest living in Japan, envisions the future of his faith. Born Kevin Seperic, Gomyo began rapping in the 1990s and got introduced to Buddhism when he moved to Japan in 1994. Now he’s spearheading a movement called “Hoodie Monks“ to use hip hop as a vehicle for Buddhism practice and education. http://www.huffingtonpost.com/entry/hoodie-monks-buddhist-hip-hop_us_5620024ce4b0c5a1ce62a289
